Born and raised in Jihlava, Czech Republic, he grew up playing hockey for his home town team. During his last year of Juniors, he was selected to play for the Czech U20 National Team that won the gold medal at the 2000 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship. Earning a scholarship he relocated to Alaska to play Division I hockey for the University of Alaska Anchorage. Playing four seasons for the Seawolves, he graduated Cum Laude with a BBA in Economics degree in 2004.

After college, he played five seasons in the ECHL for the Alaska Aces, helping the team to win their first Kelly Cup Championship in 2006, and was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2017. During his professional tenure with the Aces he also completed his MBA degree from UAA in 2009.

Vladi has coached youth hockey for 9 years, most recently at the 10U Major level.
