Coaching & Playing Experience
Sam was born and raised in Soldotna, Alaska where he played youth hockey until the 14U level, when he relocated to Anchorage to play AAA hockey, including playing for Dimond High School. After he graduated from Dimond High, he was drafted into the NAHL, where he played for the Springfield Spirit before being traded to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. He spent two and half seasons anchoring the defense core for the Ice Dogs before heading to NCAA DIII St. Norbert College in Wisconsin. While at St Norbert College, he played all four years, winning multiple league championships. In addition, he was fortunate to play in the Frozen Four three out of his four seasons and collected one National Championship.
Personal Life
After graduating Cum Laude from St Norbert College with a Degree in Business Finance, Sam moved back to Anchorage, where he lives and works as a Financial Advisor in South Anchorage with his wife and two children. He has 13 years of coaching experience, spending many years at the 16U and 18U AAA levels before dropping down to coach his son. He also is currently serving as Vice President on the SAHA Board.
